Parent Information

👋  Welcome, Parents & Guardians! If your student is participating in the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program, thank you for your support in helping them take this next step toward career readiness!

Here are a few important things to know:
  • The WBL FAQs and the Business Partners’ Guide to Work-Based Learning are great resources for understanding how the program works and what’s expected of student employees and their workplace mentors.
  • If your student has already received their acceptance letter, please ensure they read it carefully and begin completing the required steps.
  • One of the first steps after acceptance is submitting the WBL Required Documentation Packet.
Details on when and where to pick up this packet are provided in the student’s acceptance letter.
    The packet includes:
    • A Parent/Student Acknowledgment and Expectations page
    • An Employer/Student Verification and Training page
  • Students must complete all required steps before they are approved to leave campus during their WBL period(s). They are only cleared once the WBL Coordinator issues their official WBL folder with timesheets.
  • If your student has questions or concerns about their grades, assignments, class dates, worksite details, or anything related to WBL, please encourage them to reach out directly to the WBL Coordinator. This helps them build self-advocacy skills. That said, I’m always happy to speak with parents or guardians directly as well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions or concerns.
Thank you again for supporting your student’s success in Work-Based Learning!
